The Story of Sarah Alexis :

Founder & Designer of Coconut & Snow

Coconut & Snow was born from my journey — from my travels, and from my sensitivity to cultures, materials, and light.

My story begins in New Caledonia, where the richness of cultural influences, vibrant colors, and traditional craftsmanship awakened my eye early on to the beauty of materials and the harmony of color.

In Belgium, I worked as a midwife. That profession instilled values that still guide me today: rigor, precision, attentiveness, and care for every detail — qualities I now find in each of my creations.

Then came Finland. Season after season, I discovered a singular light, a pared-back aesthetic, and the quiet nobility of Nordic wood. It was a true revelation.

That's where the idea for Coconut & Snow was born: bringing together two worlds that seem, at first glance, to have nothing in common. On one side, the warmth, generosity, and pattern of Afro-Caribbean textiles; on the other, the simplicity of Nordic design and the timeless beauty of Finnish wood.

Every light is designed as a piece with character, where contrast becomes harmony — a creation that lets light tell a story: the story of the North meeting the Tropics.
